For me, perceptual painting is made up of three parts: what is seen, the properties of paint, and the freedom of expression. I am an observational painter, and I care primarily about atmosphere and the presence of objects. Those things, along with my own phenomenological state, are what my paintings are all about. Fundamentally, they are about being.
