ELLEN HACKL FAGAN

Ellen Hackl Fagan builds connections between color and sound using installations, interactive games, and collaborations that combine my color-and-texture saturated paintings with music and digital technologies. Each installation invites viewers a chance to explore synaesthesia for themselves.
Her work walks the balance between randomness and intention, and, like jazz music, continues to reveal limitless possibilities for improvisation.
Echoing life’s chaotic beauty Fagan’s paintings reference pop music, complexity theory, Jungian psychology, Eastern philosophy, minimalism and decorative art.
When she is painting, saturation, accident, and the nature of the materials are central to her actions. Fagan feels it is important to set a stage, and then step aside and let color and paint become the author of the work.
